Elmcroft

At the turn of twentieth century Montana, Kit Comstock returns as a prodigal son to his ancestral home on the day his father is buried. Surprised to find his recently deceased father has left a beautiful young widow, Sarah, and a young son, Robbie, he has no intention to stay. Sarah reveals she has been left with nothing in her late husband’s will. Until Kit’s unexpected return, as if from the dead, the presumed heir to Elmcroft was younger dissolute son Richard, who has been the undoing of the once vast holdings of the Triple C. He has offered Sarah a home at Elmcroft but only as his wife, a condition abhorrent to her. Despite Kit’s reluctance to stay, Sarah’s desperation, and their immediate but unacknowledged mutual attraction move him agree to a marriage of convenience with his stepmother, and to fight for his heritage, the wife he is falling in love with and her son, his little stepbrother.
